Neue Wache, Berlin - May 8, 2020
75 years after the capitulation of Nazi Germany and the liberation of the people of Europe and also of Germany, a commemorative event was held at midday on 8 May 2020 at the NEUE WACHE, the Federal Republic of Germany's central memorial for the victims of war and tyranny. Due to the Corona Pandemic, the scheduled central event could not take place. Only a small celebration took place within the framework of the security precautions.
In the afternoon I went there to draw together with fellow sketcher Marion Brandes.
Dresdner Straße
Berlin - Luckauer-/ Ecke Sebastianstraße. Im Hintergrund die Dresdner Straße.
Dieses Bild zeichnete ich im August 2019, unweit des Ateliers Zeichnerei Kull, unserer Kollegin Heidi Kull, welches im Hintergrund in der Dresdner Straße liegt.
Heidi entdeckte mich zeichnend, auf meinem Hocker auf der Straße sitzend. Sie kam und leistete mir Gesellschaft, brachte mir Saft und Tee und schließlich bereitete sie sogar noch einige Häppchen, die wir dann gemeinsam lachend auf der Straße verspeisten. Es war ein sehr schöner und einträchtiger Moment mit intensiven Gesprächen - während das Bild langsam Gestalt annahm. Heidi lobte es, worüber ich mich sehr freute...
Ich werde diesen Moment im Sinn behalten ...
Am 11.02.2020 ist Heidi völlig überraschend gestorben...
Es ist unfassbar traurig.
I drew this picture in August 2019, not far from the studio "Zeichnerei Kull", our colleague Heidi Kull, which is located in the background in the Dresdner Straße. Heidi discovered me drawing, sitting on my walkstool on the street. She came and kept me company, brought me juice and tea and finally she even prepared some snacks, which we then ate together laughing on the street. It was a very beautiful and peaceful moment with intense conversation - while the picture slowly took shape. Heidi praised it, which I was very happy about...
I will keep this moment in mind ...
On 11.02.2020 Heidi died completely unexpectedly...
It is incredibly sad.
Wiesbaden - Der Eimer
Bei einem Besuch in der alten Heimat habe ich einen sehr netten unsd amüsanten Abend in der Weingaststätte "Der Eimer" in der Wiesbadener Altstadt verbracht. Einheimische Gäste, Studierende und Touristen von rund um den Globus kommen an den Tischen ganz automatisch ins Gespräch und der Pianist trägt mit seinen Evergreens zur anheimelnde Atmosphäre bei.
During a visit to the old home region I spent a very nice and amusing evening in the wine tavern "Der Eimer" in the old town of Wiesbaden. Local guests, students and tourists from all over the world automatically get into conversation at the tables and the pianist contributes to the homely atmosphere with his evergreens.

| Schachklub Haus |
Topsy, artist and chess enthusiast from England, has set up Schachklubhaus - a chess meeting point in an observation tower on a runway of the Tempelhof airfield, between the dog run and a barbecue meadow. It is open every Sunday between 9:00 and 12:00. A very nice, a bit weird place for all chess lovers.
Topsy, ein Schach begeisterter englischer Künstler, hat in einem Aussichtsturm auf einer Rollbahn des Tempelhofer Felds das Schachklubhaus eingerichtet - einen Schachtreffpunkt zwischen Hundeauslauf, und Grillwiese. Jeden Sonntag zwischen 9:00 und 12:00 ist er geöffnet. Ein sehr schöner, ein bisschen schräger Ort für alle Schachfreunde.

USK Treffen 2019 in Augsburg
The Urban Sketchers Germany Meeting 2019 took place from 29th - 31st August in Augsburg. The Augsburg Sketchers had prepared and organized it in a great way - and the crowd of 150 sketchers from all over the republic were looked after hospitably and attentively.
As part of the workshop programme I gave the workshop "People in Space - Tell your Story" on Saturday - I found it very exciting how the participants implemented the theme and my suggestions. Great!
I myself couldn't find so much leisure and space for drawing...
Das Urban Sketchers Deutschland Treffen 2019 fand vom 29.-31.08. in Augsburg statt. Die Augsburger Sketcher hatten es großartig vorbereitet und organisiert - und die Schar der 150 Zeichner aus der ganzen Republik wurden gastfreundlich und aufmerksam betreut.
Im Rahmen des Workshop Programms habe ich am Samstag den Workshop "Menschen im Raum - Tell your story" gegeben - und fand es spannend, wie die Teilnehmer das Thema und meine Anregungen umgesetzt haben. Toll!
Ich selbst fand leider nicht ganz so viel Muße und Raum zum Zeichnen...

Île de Ouessant
After the festival "Ici et Ailleurs" in Brest, we - fellow sketchers from France, Spain, Israel and Germany - went on a three days sketch crawl to the island of Ouessant, Brittany.
Thanks to Lapin, who got to know and love the island - and who gave us an insight into the charm of the barren and rough landscape. Merci to all!

I had the pleasure of exploring Berlin for three days, together with my fellow artists from "Matite in Viaggio" (from Mestre/Venice), serching for the traces of the (almost) disappeared Berlin Wall.
